Restricting the exercise of personal freedom for women and girls by the increased cases of sexual harassment in Iraq.
The pace of sexual harassment has increased in Iraq and has become a phenomenon, especially with the start of the new school year and the students going to educational institutions. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the reasons for the noticeable increase in harassment recently, which hinders women and girls from exercising basic freedoms in their places of residence freely and smoothly without restriction, Especially the weakness of the deterrent appropriate to the type and method of the phenomenon used by young people who practice it without fear or hesitation.
Harassment is defined as “a range of unacceptable behaviors and practices or threats associated with them, whether one-time or repeated, that have the intent, lead, or are likely to result in physical, psychological, sexual, or economic harm, and includes gender-based violence and harassment. social,” and this includes bullying, harassment, and other things.
We at NIHR direct the relevant governmental and non-governmental institutions, especially those concerned with educating individuals, to join hands with our organization and increase their campaigns to identify this phenomenon and work with the people who caused it to reject it in society and provide a space for women and girls to exercise their freedom in their places of residence.
