NIHR condemns the killing of aid worker in Iraq, the American citizen Stephen
Ward Troel, in Baghdad / Karrada district on November 7, 2022.
We consider this terrorist act against humanity that takes away the right of life for
a person who was seeking to achieve positive change among members of society
by providing humanitarian services within the international organizations
operating in the region. In addition to his tweets that express love and affection
for the Iraqi people, which were published on social networking sites as well as in
the various media in Iraq after his death.
As an organization that defends human rights, we demand the competent
authorities to reveal the perpetrators and bring them to justice so that these
cases will not be repeated.
Let everyone know that the members of society in Iraq want to live in a safe
environment free from tensions and dangers to human life.On this painful occasion, we offer our sincere condolences to the victim's family
and tell them that his memory will remain immortal among us and all peace-
loving and humanitarian workers in Iraq.
