After the increased endangerment of the lives of children in many areas of Iraq due to UXO explosions, UNICEF, on the occasion of the World Mine Awareness Day , called for education about the dangers of mines and explosive materials, as the organization expressed great concern that children are still exposed to the dangers of explosive ordnance in Iraq, despite the advocacy process it carried out in 2022 and called on local and international stakeholders to exert more efforts for an Iraq free of explosive ordnance.

On this occasion, NIHR expresses its grave concern for the safety of children in areas where unexploded explosive materials are prevalent, and calls on the relevant government agencies to accurately identify areas, which pose a threat to the lives of the population and also calls on organizations and official agencies to intensify awareness and guidance campaigns on the dangers of mines and UXO in some areas of Iraq.
